Aimed at those who are interested in securing international Board appointments, please
join us for a panel discussion on International Board Appointments which has been organised at extremely short notice so that one of our speakers can take part before returning to Malaysia at the end of the week.

The event  will be held at the office of BMS Corporate member Trowers and Hamlins, international law firm at 3 Bunhill Row London EC1Y 8YZ.

SPEAKERS on the panel

Our panel of speakers have vast international boardroom experience between them and will be sharing their views and experiences with you. They include:

Sir Mark Moody -Stuart KCMG , President of BMS 
Sir Mark has held several top international Board Appointments in his most impressive business career. His last NED appointment was to the board of Saudi Aramco. Previously he has chaired Royal  Dutch Shell, Anglo American plc,  Hermes Equity Ownership Services and was on the board of HSBC Holdings and Accenture as well as the board of many other companies. He has chaired the UN foundation for Global Compact and was Vice Chairman of the UN Global Compact board.

Martin Barrow GBS CBE, member of BMS Executive Committee
Martin was a Director of Jardine Matheson for 36 years. He was also a NED of Malaysian Airlines for 10 years and a director of G33 global 1 Limited ( formerly Rasmala UK Holding Limited ) for 8 years as well as being on the board of Baillie Gifford Japan trust PLC for 14 years. He chaired the Hong Kong Tourist Board from 1988 to 1996. 

YAM Tunku Zain Al-Abidin 'Abidin ibni  Tuanku Muhriz 
Founding President of the Institute for Democracy and Economic Affairs ( IDEAS ), Tunku Zain sits on several business and not for profit boards in Malaysia. His latest appointment is as a NED on the Board of Deutsche Bank Malaysia . Tunku Zain chairs the board of Omesti Berhad. For 9 years, he was on the board of Allianz Malaysia Berhad, Allianz General Insurance Company ( Malaysia ) and Allianz Life Insurance. He is the Patron of many organisations including our sister organisation in Malaysia, The Malaysia British Society and also the Nine Arts Festival in Negeri Sembilan, the state in Malaysia where his father is the Yang di-Pertuan Besar ( Chief Ruler ).

Riccardo Abatte
Riccardo Abbate is one of the senior Corporate Partners at Trowers and Hamlins. He is very experienced in advising UK and non UK clients in strategic and commercial matters. He will be covering the importance of independence in board decision making, conflict matters, caution around tax residency and cultural nuances.

Jamie Garner
Partner and Head of Transformational Leadership at The Inzito Partnership, the UK's leading Boutique Executive Search firm  that helps elite FTSE350 companies and global organisations to identify, attract and accelerate the impact of the highest calibre leadership talent . Jamie is involved  in the forefront of cutting edge work to change the processes of executive search work through use of AI. This will help clients to make better quality decisions when choosing candidates for C-Suite or NED roles on boards,

Mei Sim Lai OBE DL FCA FCCA, BMS Chair 
The panel discussion will be moderated by Mei Sim who has served on many business, government and not for profit boards for very many years. Since 2006 she has been one of the Representatives of HM The Queen and since 2022 HM King Charles III in Greater London and has responsibilty for London Borough of Brent since 2007.
